"Weathering the Storm"--Salkehatchie Stew's 2010 Play

“Weathering the Storm” Salkehatchie Stew’s 2010 play will be produced in Allendale. Denmark, Hampton, and Estill on weekends beginning April 16.  The play, based on stories gathered from the region with original music and dance, shows how folks deal with bad weather, hard times, setbacks, and interesting relatives and friends.  Production dates are April 16-18 in Allendale at the B&G Civic Center, April 23-25 at the Dane Theater in Denmark, April 30 & May 1 in Hampton at the Palmetto Theater, and May 2 in Estill at the Estill School District auditorium.  Performance times are Friday evenings at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at 3:00.  Ticket prices at the door are $15 for adults and $10 for children 3-12.  Groups of 15 or more may have a reduced price if purchased in advance.

 

Advance tickets are on sale at the Salkehatchie Arts Center and the USC Salkehatchie Leadership Institute in Allendale, Evelyn's in Barnwell, Main St. Market in Bamberg, Brooker's in Denmark, The Frock Shop and the Palmetto Theater in Hampton, Hanna's Pharmacy in Estill, and Bachelor Hill Antiques in Walterboro.

BBQ meal prices are:  Child Meal--$5 and Adult Meal--$8. We are offering chicken strips & fries for children. BBQ meal and show special package prices are Child Play+Meal=$13 and Adult Play+Meal=$21.  This is offered only before the Allendale shows. 

 

The meal will be served before the performances in the B&G front event area, and the play will be performed in the rear theater area.  Purchase your tickets in advance so you can be able to enjoy a delicious meal before the play without having to rush to get to the theater on time.

 

Salkehatchie Stew: Bamberg County's Brew

Salkehatchie Stew: Bamberg County’s Brew, a celebration of Bamberg County’s people and heritage through stories, is scheduled for March 19 and 20, 2010, in Bamberg and Denmark.  Events include entertaining storytelling for all ages, displays of interesting collections and the stories behind them, a tall tale telling contest, delectable food, student story contest, and historical remembrances of Bamberg County. Bamberg County's Brew Heritage Tour  "A Peek through the Gate"

Bamberg will  sponsor a heritage tour of local gardens and porches on April 17.  The tour schedule and prices will be published closer to the date.

 

Salkehatchie Stew: The Colleton Collection

Salkehatchie Stew: The Colleton Collection will take place on October 22 and 23, 2010 in downtown Walterboro, combining storytelling and music events, with a downtown mystery stroll in local businesses on Friday evening.  Saturday will be filled with finding the best teller of tall tales and listening to entertaining storytellers and musicians.

 

Salkehatchie Stew: Barnwell County's Boil

Salkehatchie Stew: Barnwell County’s Boil will present Barnwell County’s special recipes of storytelling on October 30, 2010, in Barnwell County, with local tellers sharing stories of Barnwell County and the Salkehatchie region’s rich heritage and culture.  The event will feature special ghost stories in a "haunted house" and other Halloween activities for children.
